Whoa.

Sorry about that, got caught up in a little industry mumbo-jumbo for a second…

The meaning of the name HUGO is “bright in mind and spirit” and that’s exactly who we are. Whether it’s a new brand or a rebrand, from logos to image campaigns, we create and live by a culture of sweat and fun. We sweat the small stuff because we know that God is in the details. Our eclectic group injects fun into the everyday because if it ain’t fun – then why do it?

The Who’s Who of HUGO

(admit it, you just pronounced it who-go, didn’t you)

Matt Guastaferro

Owner/Creative Director

Matt Guastaferro

“No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.”

-Yoda
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Yoda’s wise words are a source of inspiration, and a philosophy that Matt applies to his everyday intentions. He attacks each job with a sense of order and precision and he’s fueled by the “what ifs” of the world. His “can-do” attitude is not only comforting to clients—it’s infectious.

A “military brat,” Matt spent 9 of his years growing up in Europe: Spain, Germany and Italy. It was during these formidable years that Matt was exposed to some of the greatest treasures of the art world and his appreciation for fine art was born. Matt went on to study Broadcast Production/Graphic Design at Eastern University of New Mexico where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. An internship brought Matt to Washington DC, where jobs at America’s Most Wanted and the National Geographic Channel opened the door to the design team at CNN, where he played an integral role in designing for much of their programming.

Matt currently teaches four levels of Motion Graphics and Senior Thesis for Digital Media Design at George Washington University’s Corcoran School of the Arts & Design.
