What's in a Rebrand?

A Washington D.C.-based triathlon organization was taking on a new name and becoming District Multisport. The sport of triathlon consists of swimming, biking and running and the team’s members are some of the most gifted and dedicated amateur athletes on the planet. We branded the team from head to toe with a look that stands out from the crowd and looks seriously fast on the race course.

The Logo

Right out of the gate we had to address the logo. A team based in Washington DC, with the word "District" as a main player in its name, should pay homage to that namesake. As such, it seemed fitting that the D.C. flag be our springboard of inspiration. We explored designs that incorporated wings, stars & stripes, eagles and more. The final design forms the letter D which is broken up into thirds – each representing the individual disciplines of the sport.

The Kit Designs

Three different designs were created for the racing kit. It covered everything from jerseys to jackets to vest, and hats and gloves, and more. The winning design was chosen by vote from the members of the team. The results were better than we could've hoped for as the quality and texture of the fabric adds another dimension to the designs.

The Outcome

And with the new kits, a photoshoot and brand film were created. The goal of the photoshoot was the make the world class athletes look like super heroes in the world's most powerful city. While the brand film, Grace. Power. Speed. tells the story of a day in the life of a triathlete in training. Additionally, team members plastered their race results all over social media - looking fabulous in their new kits.
